NTB – the Norwegian news agency

Reliable – credible – independent

NTB is Norway’s largest provider of content in the form of text, images, video and graphics to Norwegian media. NTB also delivers a wide range of services, such as distribution of press releases, production of camera-ready copy, storage of images and language training courses.


NTB has organised its business in four areas:

Included in the NTB group are the companies Nyhetsgrafikk.no, Universum, NTB Arkitekst , Nynorsk Pressekontor (NPK) and the Samfoto image bank.

NTB also co-owns the Retriever media monitoring agency with the Swedish news agency TT.

NTB is jointly owned by Norwegian media and has no ties to Norwegian authorities.

NTB's history:

The NTB news agency was established in 1867. In early years it was privately owned. After the First World War, the agency was acquired by AS Norsk Telegrambyrå, a limited company owned by a group of newspapers. Images have been part of its news services since 1932.
